Ensure undertook remediation of a medium sized FC sheet lined balcony whereby significant water ingress was being experienced. The team undertook careful demolition of the existing tiles and glue to expose the existing FC substrate without damaging the existing FC boards, allowing the client to retain this substrate and hence, save significant costs on the project. Once the substrate was exposed, the team worked to carefully grind off any remaining tile adhesive or defective membrane. Following this, a temporary construction membrane was installed in preparation for a new fully adhered Fatra Fatrafol 807v PVC Sheet Membrane System complete with membrane upturns in the adjacent walls and new door sub-sill trays. The works also include for removal of existing sliding door and window units and replacement with new fit for purpose double glazed units, removal of existing balcony gutters and replacement with new gutters and fascia board, erection of 3 storey perimeter scaffold for safe working access from building edges, re-tiling and bedding to new falls and installation of tiling control joints.
Due to the nature of the works, the residents vacated the property over the course of the works. Whilst the residents were away from Site, Ensure’s team established a WhatsApp Group Chat which served as a tool to send the client regular updates on their project as well as communicate any urgent or necessary items as needed.
